So the question Patricia asked was: Is the world's focus on English preventing the spread of great ideas in other languages?  Personally, I do think that people kind of...depend too much on English.  Yes, it would be good to have a language that everyone could speak because then the whole world would be able to communicate in a sense, but I think that like Patricia said, the cultures and ways of other people get lost because their language dies.  Knowing more than one language is a good thing because it keeps people diverse and therefore people can see things from different perspectives, which makes people much more intelligent.  It is pretty important for people to know other languages because it's easier to share ideas, music, culture, or to just communicate with people who do not speak that other language as their first language.  I do think that languages kind of disappear when we try to get everyone to speak one language and we need to preserve those other cultures, not lose them as time passes.

Blog #2

Well, since I love music, I was ecstatic to see that this week's blog is about spanish music.  Although I don't listen to that much spanish music, I do listen to some and one of my favorite spanish artists happens to be Enrique Iglesias.  I heard the song "Cuando Me Enamoro" by Enrique Iglesias and Juan Luis Guerra and fell in love with it.  Not only do I love their voices and the music itself, but I think the lyrics are really relatable to a lot of people and that makes it a good song.  The lyrics of the song basically just talk about what it feels like to fall in love and how you'd do anything for the one you love.  One of the verses talks about taking a star from the sky for the one they love just because they love them.  The chorus basically says "when i fall in love, sometimes i feel despair.  when i fall in love, i fall when i least expect it.  time stops.  the soul and body reunite.  i smile, when i fall in love".

Melanie's First Blog Entry

   Wow, you can totally tell that I'm a newbie blogger.  Okay well what I hope to do this semester is basically just get A's, do good in class.  I hope to learn how to speak Spanish and not fail epically at it haha.  This semester I'm hoping I can get a part time job because I could use the money.  I'm not really gonna set many specific goals for myself though, because things always change and not everything will turn out the way you necessarily want it to so...yeah just planning on goin' with the flow.  
    My thought's on blogging...well I think it's kinda interesting to see what other people have to say.  I've kind of done blogging before, like....one time but it wasn't really anything to brag about.  It's just going to be cool to be able to express your own opinions through blogging and kind of see what other people think too.  Blogging is useful in creating a fun and innovative way to connect with others.
   Other than that, I have nothing else to add.  Peace. ;)
